Special Features of the Dept. /Institute

 
The PME Department has been emphasizing the integration of mechanical engineering and electrical engineering since its founding in 1972. To educate young elite and to develop core technology essentials which will satisfy the nation's needs in the foreseeable future, we revamped and expanded the conventional mechanical engineering curricula to include four programs:  electric control program, micro and nano technology program, energy program as well as high precision manufacturing program. The PME Department has  upgraded  its curriculum to remain competitive in the engineering industry and places research emphases on four interdisciplinary fields:  power and energy systems technology, opto-mechatronic systems technology, nano and micro technology, and bioengineering technology.
